How to Choose Darts in Australia

The best darts are not necessarily the most expensive. A good set matches your natural grip, preferred weight and throwing rhythm, then gives you a repeatable reference point every time you pick it up.

1. Start with weight

For steel tip, 22g or 23g is a sensible starting point for most players. Read the dart weight guide or shop by weight.

2. Match the barrel to your grip

Note whether you grip near the front, middle or rear. A straight barrel is versatile, while tapered, scalloped and torpedo shapes provide more obvious finger placement. Compare the options in our barrel shapes guide.

3. Choose the grip level

More grip is not automatically better. Aggressive grooves can help dry hands but may catch during release. A medium grip is the safest starting point. See the dart grip guide.

4. Consider the point system

Conventional points are simple and proven. Replaceable systems make point changes easier; for example, the Target Swiss steel-tip darts use Target's interchangeable Swiss Point system.

5. Keep the first comparison simple

Change one variable at a time and judge grouping, comfort and consistency rather than one lucky visit. Browse all steel-tip darts.
