Dart Grip Types Guide

Dart grip describes both the texture machined into the barrel and how strongly that texture holds the fingers. The right grip should provide confidence without sticking during release.

Ringed grip

Ringed grip darts use grooves around the barrel. They are predictable, widely used and available in mild through aggressive forms.

Milled grip

Milled darts use cuts made along or across the barrel to create edges and texture. Milling can create strong grip without relying on deep rings alone.

Nano and fine texture

Nano grip darts use very fine machining. They can feel secure in the hand while allowing a clean release, although the sensation varies with hand moisture.

How much grip do you need?

  • Low grip: smooth release and easy finger adjustment.
  • Medium grip: the most versatile starting point.
  • High grip: strong reference points, but can catch if your release is tight.

Your release matters more than the label. Choose enough texture to repeat your hand position, but not so much that the barrel drags across your fingers.
