Dart Flights & Shafts: Compatibility and Buying Guide

Choose dart flights and shafts in this order: fitting system, flight shape, then shaft length. A flight can be the right shape and still be the wrong replacement if it does not fit your shaft.

This guide compares parts sold by On Point Darts and the manufacturers' fitting information. Use it to decide what to order and how to test a change with your own throw.

Which flights fit which shafts?

Setup How it fits What to buy or replace
Folded flight + conventional shaft The flight slots into the top of a compatible shaft. The shaft attaches to the barrel. Flights and shafts are separate parts. Check the shaft's thread and any retaining ring requirements.
Target K-Flex No.2 or No.6 Flight and shaft are moulded together; the 2BA thread screws into a compatible barrel. Buy the complete integrated unit in the shape and length you want. A separate folded flight does not attach to K-Flex.
Cosmo Fit Flight / Fit Flight Air The flight pushes onto a matching Cosmo Fit Shaft. Buy Fit Flights for existing Fit Shafts. If moving from conventional shafts, you need the matching shafts too.
L-Style L-Flight Check the particular L-Flight and compatible shaft. EZ models incorporate the ring; PRO models use the Champagne Ring system. Confirm the model and whether a separate ring is needed. The L-Style brand name alone does not identify every required part.

Two different connections: a 2BA barrel thread tells you how the shaft fits the barrel. It does not tell you which flight fits the top of the shaft.

K-Flex No.2 versus No.6: keep the length the same

K-Flex No.2 has the larger standard-style profile. K-Flex No.6 is smaller. Both listings offer Short 19mm, Intermediate 26mm and Medium 33mm options, subject to colour and stock.

If you currently use No.2 Intermediate, compare No.6 Intermediate first. Moving to No.6 Short at the same time changes both shape and length, so you cannot tell which change affected the result. These are Target's shaft length labels; compare measurements taken from the same reference points when changing brands.

Cosmo Fit Flight Air: check the shaft before ordering

Fit Flight Air is a replacement flight within Cosmo's Fit system. Keep a compatible Fit Shaft when replacing the flight; do not force it onto a conventional slotted shaft. Choose the shape from the product options after confirming the fitting.

A repeatable test for your own setup

  1. Record the starting setup. Note barrel model and weight, point, flight shape, shaft model and length. Replace damaged parts before comparing.
  2. Choose one change. Compare two flight shapes with the same shaft, or two shaft lengths with the same flight.
  3. Alternate short blocks. After warming up, throw ten visits with setup A, ten with B, then repeat. Keep the target and practice conditions the same.
  4. Record more than score. Note how the dart enters the board, whether later darts are obstructed, flight damage and how the release feels. Take a side-on photo of three darts in the board for each setup.
  5. Repeat on another day. Use a consistent result across sessions to make the buying decision, rather than one unusually good leg.

This is a comparison method, not a claim that a particular accessory will improve everyone's score. If the barrel weight or grip is uncomfortable, use the dart weight guide before tuning the rear setup.

Before adding to cart

  • Have you matched the shaft-to-barrel thread and flight-to-shaft fitting?
  • Is the selected option the shape, length and colour you want?
  • Does the listing include flights only, shafts only, or an integrated set?
  • Are any separate rings or compatible shafts required?
  • Will your case hold the assembled setup without bending the flights?

Browse replacement flights, shafts or flights and shafts together. If the fitting is unclear, send us the exact model and a photo of your current parts before ordering.

Fitting references: Target K-Flex, Cosmo Fit System and L-Style. Checked September 2026; confirm the individual product specification when ordering.
