Dart Weight vs Barrel Shape: Two 24g Darts Compared

All buying guides

A matching weight does not make two darts feel the same. This comparison uses the specifications and product photos listed by On Point Darts for the 24g Target EXO 02 and Datadart Deadeye. It is a specification comparison; it does not claim either dart achieved better throwing results.

Use these measurements as a starting point when browsing steel-tip darts by weight, barrel shape and grip. Compare the selected weight variant on each product page before ordering.

What the difference means when shopping

The Deadeye listing is 0.5mm longer and 0.70mm narrower. Those measurements tell you about the space available for your fingers and how the barrel compares with a set you already own. They do not establish which dart will group better for you.

Locate your normal grip on each photograph. A rear grip will meet different machining on these models; a front grip needs to account for the taper. Check the full product gallery before deciding.

Point compatibility is a separate choice

The EXO 02 uses Target's Swiss Point system. Choose replacement Swiss Points for a compatible Swiss Point barrel. The Deadeye listing is a conventional steel-tip set, so confirm the correct fitted point and fitting requirements before repointing. Do not buy points purely because their length matches.

Which difference should you investigate first?

  • Your current dart feels too wide: compare the listed 6.20mm and 6.90mm diameters with your own barrel. Keep the weight question separate from the width question.
  • Your fingers overlap a smooth area: use the product photos to map where your thumb and fingers sit. Check usable grip length rather than total barrel length alone.
  • You want to change points at home: first identify the point system. The Swiss Point barrel needs a compatible Swiss Point and tool. A conventional press-fit barrel needs an appropriate repointing tool and fitting instructions; check compatibility before using a Pointman repointer.

Three photos that make setup advice more useful

If you would like help comparing these darts with your own, photograph the full assembled dart, the barrel beside a ruler, and your normal grip from the side. Keep the complete barrel visible. Send the photos with the model and weight through our contact page; this gives us more to work with than weight alone.

Use dimensions before changing grams

Measure or check the specification of your current barrel. If its weight feels comfortable but it is too wide, too short or awkward at your grip position, compare shape and dimensions first. For a weight change, use the three-session test with otherwise similar setups.
